The Brief
To produce a video for the launch of the new Mouse, an iconic tool invented by Black+Decker. We had already developed the concept for the print campaign, which focused on the return of the Mouse. The tool had been redesigned and reengineered – and given a new strapline – “The Mouse is Back”. Web film for Black+Decker website and distributed through all social channels.

Our Creative Insight
Upcycling is bang on trend and the Mouse is a perfect tool for this. We developed a before and after story to show an aspirational, creative lifestyle that dramatised the brand’s personality of “Surprising Individual Character”. We also wanted to aim it at a younger audience, which is key for the client as they look to
engage with the next generation of customer.

Our Approach
Our style for this film was current and natural with a sunny vibe.
We wanted to create a homemade, folky and happy feel for our story, and used actors that were typical of the consumer we were aiming at: down-to-earth, creative and approachable.

Challenges
Driving a very old VW camper van that leaked petrol and with brakes that didn’t work too well was a challenge to say the least – but it all added to the film’s authenticity.
